Center Director Rowena Morgan first came across the Music Together program when she took her infant son to a class in New Jersey. Falling in love with the program immediately, she took the training at the Music Together headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey in December 1997 before moving out to California with her family. She founded her own Music Together center in Pleasanton in 1998. Music Together Tri-Valley celebrated it's 20th anniversary in 2018.

She has a Music Degree from Glasgow University in Scotland and trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Great Britain. Rowena plays flute, piano, recorder and drums and has performed and taught both privately and in schools to students of all ages.

Every year Rowena travels back to the Music Together headquarters in Princeton for the Directors' conference to update skills, hear about the latest research in music and young children and about the new programs Music Together has to offer. Every semester Rowena and her teachers update their skills in local workshops covering not only musical elements but also childhood development, different learning styles, and classroom management.

Rowena has been awarded Certification Levels 1 and 2 from Music Together® for demonstrated achievement in musicianship, movement, parent education, and in teaching and articulating the Music Together program. She was also named a "Community Treasure" at the Music Together annual conference in 2013.

Carolyn is thrilled to be a member of the Music Together staff where she shares her love of music and children. Music has always been a big part of her life, growing up in a musical family and singing in musical productions and church with her three sisters, accompanied by her mom at the piano. Carolyn majored in Human Development at U.C. Davis, received her teaching credential, and taught fourth grade before having children of her own. Carolyn sings professionally and has directed children's church choirs. She also has a background in community theater, having played leads in the musicals "South Pacific" and "Bye, Bye, Birdie." Carolyn plays the piano, guitar, and recorder. She lives in Walnut Creek with her husband and three children.

Carolyn plays a huge part in our staffing community as a "Teacher Mentor" to incoming and existing teachers. As someone with experience and great empathy, Carolyn supports and guides new Music Together teachers as they learn the ropes of lesson planning and classroom management. We are delighted to have her as a wonderful resource for us all.

photo Nick Bang

Nick is very excited to be a part of the wonderful world of Music Together! He's ecstatic about the opportunity to help keep music alive and thriving in families' homes. A Bay Area native, he discovered his profound passion for singing when he joined the high school choir during his freshman year.

Nick began teaching and developing his own private voice and piano studio in his early twenties, and he's reminded on a daily basis how important music is in peoples' lives. For Nick, singing and making music is a key element to feeling happy and fulfilled. He can't imagine life without music, like imagining life without breathing air or drinking water. Through teaching, he's discovered this is the case for many people, and nothing brings him more joy than helping people nurture and hone their skills in such a vital aspect of the human experience. Music Together is an exciting opportunity for Nick to help more people experience everything music has to offer.

Nick received his Bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on Vocal Performance from CSU East Bay in Hayward. During his schooling, he performed in numerous musicals and operas and put on multiple solo recitals. Upon graduating, he focused mainly on developing his private voice and piano studio. He works as vocal coach for both Campolindo and Miramonte High Schools in Moraga and Orinda, CA, respectively, and is also one of the private voice teachers for the Young Women's Choral Projects in San Francisco.

Nick heard about Music Together through a colleague and was quickly drawn to the idea of keeping music alive in the community through creating music with families. His experience with Music Together has been revealing and entirely unique. He wholeheartedly believes that Music Together can have a remarkable impact not only on families but on the community as a whole.

Nick is a registered Music Together teacher and in January 2018 was awarded Certification Level 1 Music Together® for outstanding achievement in teaching and articulation of the program.

Denise grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii. She began playing the piano at age 5 and has been fortunate to have friends and family that considered all music to be important. After High School Denise moved to California where she earned a BA in Music from UC Santa Cruz. She sings, plays the piano, guitar, and ukulele and currently teaches private piano lessons to students of all ages in San Ramon.

Denise discovered Music Together through a friend. After seeing how her two young children bonded over the silly songs in the family favorites collection, she took the teacher training in San Francisco.

She is grateful to be part of the magic of making music with her children, students, and their families and Music Together Tri-Valley is thrilled to have Denise join the staff in the summer of 2019.

photo Meredith McHenry

Meredith holds an Associate's degree in music. She is continuing her education in that field at Cal state East Bay with a focus on early childhood development and music therapy. Her teaching philosophy is based on two fundamental principles: 1. Anyone can learn to sing. 2. Children need to have fun while learning anything, but especially music!

Meredith’s background is been primarily in performance: She has performed for audiences large and small. Perhaps you've seen her performing at a Livermore vineyard or at a wedding? Pleasanton restaurants welcome her events. Check out her Youtube channel.

Meredith teaches private voice lessons to older children and adults at all skill levels. She is thrilled to branch into working with families and very young children through Music Together. Her love of music is only rivaled by her love of children. Having grown up in a musically enthusiastic family of non-musicians, she is keenly acquainted with the ways that music can affect children’s musical familiarity, confidence and ability to learn in subjects across the board - even if their parents don’t believe themselves to be very musical.

Meredith still performs regularly around the bay area and you can find out more about her at www.meredithmchenry.com. She looks forward to meeting you!
